International Walk to School Day will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.

A large number of Los Altos youth are expected to participate by walking and riding bikes to school on Wednesday. To help ensure the safety of all youth participating in Walk to School Day, the Los Altos Police Department is urging drivers to exercise extra caution during the morning and late afternoon commute hours. Allow a bit of extra time in your commute and please be sure to abide by all posted speed limits, especially near schools.

International Walk to School Day seeks to raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
