Kennewick man dies after apparent drowning at Lenice Lake, near Beverly, Washington.
BEVERLY, Wash. (03OCT2015) – Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man died yesterday afternoon on Lenice Lake from an apparent drowning while fishing. The man has been identified as 69 year old Michael E. Dawson of Kennewick.
The victim was reportedly fishing from a flotation device on Lenice Lake shortly before emergency responders were called about 2:50pm yesterday. Two other fishermen in the area reportedly tried to rescue him unsuccessfully after his flotation device failed. Mattawa Police Department, Royal City Police Department, Kennewick Police Department, Grant County Fire District #8 and #10, as well as Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded. His body was recovered at approximately 4:20pm.
While drowning is suspected, the actual cause and manner of death remains under investigation by Grant County Coroner’s Office pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday. His family has been notified.
Lenice Lake is a popular fishing lake in the 12,000 block area of Lower Crab Creek Road, southwest of Royal City, in a remote area of Beverly, Washington.
