Advisory

Possible Bear Sighting on the Far West Side of Green Bay

Our agency received one call reference a possible black bear sighting this morning on the Far West side of Green Bay in the area of Ferndale and Dancing Dunes. Area schools were notified of the possible sighting to enhance their safety.

We have not received any additional calls or sightings of the possible bear and officers were unable to locate it in the area. The last sighting was at approximately 4am this morning. There is no immediate concern for public safety, however, residents in that area may want to use caution if out and about during periods of darkness, or in wooded areas, etc.

If anyone would see a black bear in the area, please call 9-1-1.

Do not approach the bear if you see it. Bears in urban environments are sometimes nervous or easily spooked which can make their behavior unpredictable.

We have no additional information at this time.
