An autopsy conducted Tuesday (September 29) on the body of a man found floating in Hilo Bay last week has ruled out foul play in his death.

The medical examiner determined that the unidentified man died from asphyxia due to drowning. Detectives are still attempting to confirm his identity so they can notify his family.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on September 24, the unresponsive man was found floating face down about 15 feet from shore at the 100 block of Banyan Drive.
