GBPD will train and provide Narcan to all patrol officers in an effort to address the rising Opioid related overdoses.

Over the last week The Green Bay Police Department has started training and providing Narcan to all of its Patrol Officers in an effort to address the rising Opioid related overdoses.

Narcan, is an emergency life saving treatment for heroin and opioid overdoses that can be administered with an intranasal auto-injector.

On Tuesday, September 29 2015, Officers were called to a parking lot on the west side for a report of a possible heroin overdose. Officer Mallory Meves, who had just received Narcan training 3 days prior, responded and discovered a 23 year old male unconscious in a vehicle. Officer Meves quickly recognized the signs of drug use and immediately administered the dose of Narcan - saving the victims life.
The victim was later transported and treated at a local hospital and is expected to fully recover.
