Suspect in August shooting charged with possession of a firearm by a felon

A woman accused in an August shooting on Newton Drive in Marion is facing another felony offense.
Capt. Shanon Smith of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Mildred Elaine Bollinger, 45, of Newton Drive in Marion, with possession of a firearm by a felon.
She was charged immediately after the incident with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
On the night of Monday, Aug. 10, deputies, Marion police officers and paramedics were called to the house where Bollinger resides in reference to someone that had sustained a gunshot wound.
Authorities found 33-year-old James Aaron McIntosh, of Marion, lying in the yard with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and neck area.
Smith stated that Bollinger and McIntosh got into a dispute inside the mobile home, and Bollinger shot McIntosh once with a shotgun.
McIntosh was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was later learned that Bollinger had previously been convicted of two felonies – assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in Burke County in 2001 and escape from a state prison in Davidson County in 2004 – which prevents her from possessing a gun.
