Master Trooper Roger Drew Promoted to District Investigative Commander

On Monday September 21, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Master Trooper Roger Drew to the position of First Sergeant to serve as the District Investigative Commander for the Versailles District of the Indiana State Police.

F/Sgt. Drew is a Dearborn County native and a 1985 graduate of South Dearborn High School.  F/Sgt. Drew served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1985 to 1989.  In 1989, F/Sgt. Drew was hired onto the Indiana State Police where he attended the 47th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.  F/Sgt. Drew graduated from the academy in November 1989 where he was then assigned to the Seymour Post of the Indiana State Police. 

F/Sgt. Drew served as a road trooper in the Seymour District from 1989 to 2006, when he was then promoted to the rank of detective.  F/Sgt. Drew then was transferred to the same position at the Versailles District in 2010 when the Seymour Post merged with the Versailles Post.  In 2014, F/Sgt. Drew was assigned duties as an investigative squad leader at the Versailles District where he supervised a squad of detectives. 

In his new position, he will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the case management system for the Versailles District.  F/Sgt. Drew will also supervise the investigative division of the Indiana State Police at the Versailles District. 

In F/Sgt. Drew’s career, he has served as a field training officer, a RADAR and defensive tactics instructor, a technical II crash investigator, and a member of the tactical intervention platoon.  In 1995, F/Sgt. Drew was awarded the distinguished gold star for his actions in saving the lives of two people who were trapped in a vehicle that was involved in a crash on I-65 in Jackson County in which the vehicle caught fire.

F/Sgt. Drew lives with his wife Angie in rural Jackson County.  F/Sgt. Drew has two adult children and four grandchildren.
