Pedestrian injured after being struck by vehicle in Chula Vista

On 9/25/15, at approximately 7:31 PM, the Chula Vista Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a traffic accident involving a pedestrian on Palomar Street (600 Block). Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an adult male had been struck by a single vehicle traveling eastbound on Palomar Street. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene.

The pedestrian was unresponsive and unconscious at the scene. He was transported to UCSD to be treated for his injuries. The pedestrian is in critical condition and expected to survive.

Witnesses at the scene saw the pedestrian running across the street southbound, against a solid red pedestrian signal. The vehicle was traveling through the intersection on a solid green light. The driver of the vehicle was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be conducting the investigation.
