**Update** Two men convicted for Fatal Shooting in Community College Parking Lot

Los Angeles County District Attorney News Release:

Two men convicted of robbing and fatally shooting a 31-year-old man at a Los Angeles Valley College parking lot have been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Edward Nison said Raheen Ahab Taylor (depicted in the blue shirt), 33, and Derrick Phillip Wilson (depicted in the grey shirt), 27, were each found guilty on July 10 of first-degree murder with a special circumstance allegation of murder in the commission of a robbery and three counts of second-degree robbery.

On the evening of Jan. 25, 2014, Taylor and Wilson were in the community college parking lot where they had agreed to buy marijuana from three men, including Ricardo Zetino, according to court testimony. After meeting, both defendants instead produced handguns and stole the drugs from the men, the prosecutor said.

Zetino was shot to death as he attempted to block Taylor and Wilson's escape, according to evidence presented at the jury trial.

This case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau.  Original News Release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

ORIGINAL LASD NEWS RELEASE FROM 01-27-14, IS AS FOLLOWS:

Suspects Arrested After Parking Lot Shooting, unrelated to LA Valley College activities - LASD Homicide

Two suspects were arrested Sunday in San Jacinto by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives investigating the Saturday shooting death of a man in a parking lot in Valley Glen. The victim of the shooting has been identified as Ricardo Zetino, a 31-year old resident of Tujunga.

The shooting occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2013, at approximately 7:25 P.M., in a parking lot of LA Valley College, 5800 Fulton Avenue, (at Burbank Blvd), in Valley Glen, in the east San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department - Van Nuys Division officers responded to a "shots fired call." Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim outside of a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - Community College Bureau deputies worked with LAPD officers at the scene. Because the campus of LA Valley College is the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff's Homicide investigators responded to the scene to conduct a homicide investigation.

No classes or campus activities were going on when the shooting occurred and the shooting was not associated with campus activities.

Investigators developed information that the shooting incident was the result of a drug deal "rip-off." The choice of the college parking lot was random.

Information developed by investigators led them to an apartment in the City of San Jacinto in Riverside County, where both suspects were located and arrested without incident.

A search warrant was executed by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators at the San Jacinto residence and two revolvers were recovered,

along with other ballistic evidence. An undetermined amount of illegal drugs were also seized, as well as the suspects' vehicle, which is believed to have been used during the murder.

Suspects Raheen Taylor, a 31-year old male, and Derrick Wilson, a 25-year old male, were booked at the Inmate Reception Center and are currently being held without bail in the Los Angeles County jail system. Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned at Van Nuys Superior Court on Tuesday, January 28, 2013.
