Saturday, September 26, 2015, 10am-2pm:
• On Saturday, September 26th, the Mahwah Police Department will host a collection site in the lobby at our headquarters to collect unused, unwanted and expired medication. The location of Police Headquarters is 221 Franklin Turnpike and the time is 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
• This program is anonymous. All efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made. Individuals should deposit medication freely and independently.
• No effort will be made any law enforcement representative to count, inventory, or log medications. Officers will not handle the medications at any time.
• The role of our agency is to maintain and safe-guard and integrity of the disposed items.
• Residents may dispose of medication either in its original container or by removing medication from its container and disposing directly into the drug disposal box. If the original container is submitted, we encourage you to remove the prescription label if it contains any personal identifying information.
• Liquid products, such as cough medicine, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
• Syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.
