OPD News: Bicycles Donated to Middle School Children; Carjacking Suspects Arrested

OPD Donates Bicycles to Middle School Children – On Thursday, September 24, 2015, Oakland Police officers delivered 10-plus bicycles to East Bay Innovative Academy, where the students had suffered a very disappointing loss over the past weekend. The bicycles they had been repairing to donate to various charities throughout Oakland were stolen. When OPD officers learned of the loss, they gathered bikes to deliver to the kids. Ten of the bicycles came from the OPD Bicycle Recovery Unit; others were personally donated by officers.

The bicycles were delivered by Traffic Operations Section Sergeant Dave Carman, Police Service Technician (PST) Dan Dowd, Officer Barry Ko, and PST Darryl Wilson. Dan Dowd is the coordinator of the OPD Bicycle Recovery Unit. We’d like to thank him for gathering the bikes to be donated to the children.
