SCAM ALERT: Caller promising Publishers Clearing House winnings is a fake 
McDowell County sheriff’s deputies have fielded several calls from residents who say they’ve been contacted by a man claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House, offering them winnings.
This is a scam, and citizens need to be aware and not fall prey to the caller’s requests.
He is asking folks to go to a store, get a money order and mail it to him before he sends them their prize.
Anyone with concerns or questions about the scam can call the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 652-2235.
