Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Detective arrests man wanted for burglary in a stolen car with other stolen property
On September 18, 2015 at approximately 8:37 PM, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detective was working an overtime assignment patrolling Santa Rosa Avenue. He recognized a wanted person getting out of a Toyota SUV at a liquor store.
Johnny Raymond Ware, a 44 year old man from Santa Rosa, was well known to the PCI Detective who had identified him during an auto burglary investigation from a couple years prior. The Detective had been looking for Ware and knew he had two felony warrants for his arrest.
Recently, Ware came to the attention of law enforcement after he was captured on surveillance photographs using a victim’s credit card that had been taken from an auto burglary stemming from a California State Parks case.
Ware was arrested without incident. It was very quickly discovered the vehicle he associated with had been reported stolen to Santa Rosa Police Department. The license plates on the Toyota had been switched and there was evidence located inside the vehicle linked Ware to several recent auto burglaries in Sonoma County.
In one of the auto burglaries, a victim’s Sonoma State school books and various student documents Sonoma State University had been stolen from her vehicle earlier in the day while she worked at a business on River Road.
Ware was booked into Sonoma County Jail for stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property theft with prior convictions and his two warrants for Violation of Felony Probation. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday September 22 at 1:30 in courtroom #9.
This is an open and on-going investigation as more victims from other crimes are being contacted. Consequently, we are not releasing specific details about related reports now, to protect the integrity of those cases. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Investigation Unit encourages anyone with information about Ware to contact the Anonymous Tip Line at 707-565-2185.
