POWER OUTAGE: A transformer exploded in the 1700 block of Germain Dr. 
Shortly after 7:00 PM this evening, a transformer in the 1700 block of Germain Dr. exploded causing a palm tree to catch on fire. This caused a number of other transformers to explode as well causing a power outage in the immediate area.
The Montebello Fire Department extinguished the fire, however there are some live power lines down in the area. Please stay in your homes and avoid any live downed lines.
Southern California Edison is on scene and currently working diligently to turn the power back on. At this time, it is unknown how long the power will be out. If you have any further questions or concerns, please call police dispatch at 323 887-1313.
