SWAT call out for armed barricated suspect

On September 17, 2015 at 6:47 hours, Deputies were dispatched to a report of a Hispanic male subject firing a gun in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. As deputies arrived they saw a subject matching the description of the suspect. The suspect was armed with a handgun and began jumping fences into the backyard of residences in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. Deputies chased the suspect into a nearby apartment complex. Deputies established a perimeter around the apartment complex and evacuated the apartment complex. Deputies located the apartment the suspect was in and made several announcements for the suspect to come out. No one would respond from inside the apartment.

A SWAT call out was the initiated for the barricaded armed suspect. After one hour, a male adult and three male juveniles exited the apartment. The armed suspect refused to come out.

After six hours, the SWAT team located the suspect hiding in the next door apartment. He had climbed in the common attic and dropped down into the next door apartment. The suspect surrendered to SWAT team members. The handgun was located in the apartment with the suspect.

The suspect was identified as a 16 year old from Tulare County. He was arrested for discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. The 16 year old also had a no bail felony warrant for his arrest issued from Tulare County.
