Ohio Man Arrested for OWI Felony after Driving Through Median

New Castle – An Ohio man was arrested last evening for Operating While Intoxicated Felony, after a trooper saw him driving in the grassy median of SR3 just south of CR 300 South in New Castle.  Around 9 p.m. last evening Trooper Ray Otter was south bound on SR 3, just south of CR 300 South, when he observed a dark colored car driving in the grass median just south of his location.

When Otter activated his lights the car drove back up onto the south bound side of SR3 and crossed into the driving lane, before coming to a stop on the berm.  When Otter spoke to the driver, 68 year old Joseph Quinn of Canfield, Ohio, Quinn advised Otter that he thought he was in Ohio.

Indiana State Trooper Otter assured Mr. Quinn that he was indeed in Indiana. Further investigation revealed Quinn was operating his vehicle with a B.A.C. over the .08% limit. Quinn was lodged in the Henry County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction within 5 years, Level 6 Felony, and Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment, Class “A” Misdemeanor.

The Indiana State Police remains committed to reducing the number of impaired driving crashes as well as all crashes. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
