Spencer – (Owen County) Last night just before 5:30 pm, a 1999 Ford truck driven by Shawn Toon, 31 of Bloomfield, was southbound on US 231, just north of State Road 46. At that time, a 2011 Chevrolet truck driven by Scott Wilding, 46 of Spencer was travelling northbound from State Road 46.
For unknown reasons, Toon’s truck crossed over the center line and struck Wilding’s vehicle.
Toon was airlifted from the scene to a hospital in Indianapolis.
Wilding died as a result of injuries sustained at the crash. His family has been notified.
The crash is still under investigation.
The Spencer Police Department, the Owen County Fire Department and the Owen County Coroner’s Office assisted with the investigation.
