Two Kentucky Men Face Drug and Weapons Charges after Traffic Stop

Crawford County: Two Kentucky men are behind bars after a morning traffic stop that found them in possession of drugs and weapons.

At 8:17 A.M., Sergeant Kirby Stailey was conducting radar patrol on Interstate 64 near the 86 mile marker in Crawford County. Sergeant Stailey observed a white 2014 Mazda traveling eastbound at 80 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. Sergeant Stailey pulled over the Mazda and began speaking with the driver, Jeremiah Collins, 30, Owensboro, KY and the passenger, Christopher Raley, 24, Greenville, KY.

As Sergeant Stailey continued his investigation, he learned that both Collins and Raley had suspended drivers licenses. The Mazda was a rental car, and neither Collins nor Raley were permitted to drive the vehicle per the rental agreement. After contacting the rental company, Stailey was asked by the rental company to impound the vehicle. While inventorying the contents of the vehicle, Stailey found a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Stailey also found a loaded handgun in the vehicle; neither Collins nor Raley had a handgun permit.

Both Collins and Raley were placed into custody on meth and weapons charges. They were lodged in the Crawford County Jail without incident.
