A high speed pursuit through the cities of San Bernardino, Rialto, & Devore result in an arrest

DATE/TIME: September 15, 2015 / 12:22 am

INCIDENT: Vehicle Pursuit

LOCATION: Mountain View Ave X 40th Street, San Bernardino

SUSPECT(S): 21-year-old Iovonn Flowers, San Bernardino Resident

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On September 15, 2015, at 12:22 a.m., a deputy from the Central Station observed a silver Honda Accord pass him at a high rate of speed. The deputy made a U-turn and the driver, later identified as Iovonn Flowers made an evasive move by turning down a residential street. The deputy caught up to the vehicle and turned on his emergency lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. Flowers accelerated and the deputy initiated a pursuit. The pursuit was aided by the Sheriff's Aviation Helicopter. Speeds from the 25 mile pursuit were in excess of 100 MPH as Flowers led deputies through San Bernardino, Rialto, Devore and back to San Bernardino again. The pursuit was finally terminated when a deputy conducted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver. The PIT caused the suspect vehicle to spin out, collide with a curb and jump onto a sidewalk. The vehicle came to rest wedged between a tree and a block wall in front of a residence in San Bernardino. Flowers and two occupants were taken into custody and received medical attention for injuries. The occupants were later released, as they stated they plead with Flowers to stop the vehicle numerous times during the pursuit.

Flowers was arrested, without further incident, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for Felony Evading and False Imprisonment.
