Homicide Investigation
September 14, 2015

On September 11, 2015 at 12:03pm, the Sun Prairie Police Department was dispatched to 1052 Providence Common in the City of Sun Prairie for a domestic incident involving a weapon.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased adult female. The victim is identified as Jane M. Skalitzky, age 68, of the Sun Prairie Area.

Officers secured the scene and took into custody the victim’s son, Matthew J. Skalitzky, age 40, of 1052 Providence Common, Sun Prairie. Matthew Skalitzky was booked into the Dane County Jail on a charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide.

The investigation reveals that the weapon involved was an edged weapon and the victim received multiple injuries and died from injuries sustained from edged weapon wounds.

There was one adult resident home at the time of the event and this person made the initial phone call alerting emergency responders. This adult resident is not involved in this incident.

Mathew Skalitzky is the only suspect in the case. There is no ongoing safety concern for the community.

The investigation continues and the Sun Prairie Police Department is being assisted by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
