Deputy's traffic stop leads to seizure of meth and Newland man's arrest 
Deputy Seth Leopold of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Travis Ray Waycaster, 36, of Newland, with felony possession of methamphetamine.
At 1:55 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, Leopold stopped a van on Nix Creek Road for multiple traffic violations.
A subsequent search of Waycaster, who was the driver, and the vehicle turned up 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.
