Commercial Vehicle Crash Snarls Evening Traffic
Vigo County—This evening at 4:56, Indiana State Police Troopers Nicole Cheeks and Rondell Shelton responded to a commercial vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 11 mile marker. There were no injuries reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 International tractor, driven by 45-year-old William Todd Roberts of Plainfield, IN., was pulling a box trailer loaded with household items in the passing lane next to another tractor-trailer in the driving lane. The tractor-trailer in the driving lane reportedly appeared to weave close to or into the passing lane causing William Roberts to steer to his left. In doing so, Roberts lost control of his unit and ultimately veered right back across both lanes and into the concrete barriers.
The tractor-trailer was owned by Daum Trucking of Plainfield, IN.
Interstate 70 eastbound was closed for very short intermittent periods, but both lanes are now open.
Assisting were Riley Fire/Rescue and Edington’s Wrecker Service.
