Sonoma County Sheriff's Office DVSA Detectives arrest mother in felony child abuse of her infant.

On September 6, 2015 at about 11:22 AM, a two and a half month old child was brought to a local hospital’s Emergency Room. The infant was suffering from multiple serious injuries so the medical staff alerted the Sheriff’s Office. A Deputy responded, assessed the situation and summoned Detectives from the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit. The baby was soon transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital to receive specialized treatment.

Family members and others involved in the child’s care were interviewed. The baby’s mother, Monserrat Salgado, could not adequately explain the circumstances surrounding the injuries present on her infant. She was arrested in the early morning hours of September 7, 2015.

Salgado, a 19 year old from Santa Rosa, is currently being held in the Sonoma County Main Jail on felony charges of inflicting injury upon a child which resulted in a traumatic injury. She was arraigned and the District Attorney’s Office filed felony child abuse charges against her. Her bail is $160,000 and she will appear in court on September 15, 2015 at 8:30 in courtroom 9.

This is an open investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit. Our Detectives are actively investigating the case and we are not releasing details now that might interfere with their work.
