Anonymous Tip Leads to Discovery of Marijuana Grow in Switzerland County

Switzerland County-After a week long investigation, the Indiana State Police served a search warrant at a rural Rising Sun address on September 9th that led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation and led to an arrest of the property owner.

Approximately one week earlier, an anonymous tip was called into the Indiana State Police Versailles Post reporting a residence located at 13057 Red Hog Pike, in Switzerland County possibly had marijuana plants growing on the property.  Master Trooper Rick Hewitt conducted a week long investigation which led to Trooper Hewitt obtaining a search warrant for the property through the Switzerland County Courts.  During the execution of the search warrant, troopers located approximately 40 marijuana plants growing in the residence and around the property.

The homeowner, Anthony A. McAllister, 56, Rising Sun, IN was arrested at the scene and charged with cultivation of marijuana, level 6 felony, maintaining a common nuisance, level 6 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor.  He was transported to the Switzerland County Jail.

The Indiana State Police would like to remind anyone who becomes aware of drug activity or any other criminal activity to contact the Indiana State Police Versailles Post, (812)689-5000, to report the information.  Information from the general public is often essential, as it was in this case, in being able to prosecute these individuals involved in the manufacturing and distribution of drugs in our communities.  Tips can remain anonymous.

A mug photo of McAllister may be obtained by contacting the Switzerland County Jail.

Trooper Hewitt was assisted at the scene by other troopers with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post.
