“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending September 6, 2015

ROBBERY ATTEMPT
On Tuesday, Sept. 1st, around 8:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Alvarado-Niles Rd. and Monterra Circle for an attempted robbery report. The victim said he was walking home when a suspect on a mountain bike approached him, told him to give him his money, and threatened to shoot him. The suspect fled prior to police arrival but was located nearby. Bradley Matthes, a 29-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested. No weapons were located.

SHOOTING AT INHABITED DWELLING
On Saturday, Sept. 5th, around 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 31300 block of San Andreas Dr. on reports of shots fired. It was determined that approximately 12 shots were fired in the area, and a house and two vehicles were hit by multiple bullets. There were no injuries. A suspicious vehicle in the area was described as a white boxy sedan, similar to a Scion xB car. Detectives are continuing to investigate this case.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, August 31st through Sunday, Sept. 6th, there was one reported residential burglary:
• 2400 block of Balmoral St.: Occurred on Thursday, Sept. 3rd, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. A window was left unlocked. The residence was ransacked, and the full loss is unknown at this time.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, August 31st through Sunday, Sept. 6th, there was one reported commercial burglary:
• 3200 block of Whipple Rd.: Occurred between Thursday, Sept. 3rd at 8:30 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 4th at 4:10 a.m. A window was left unlocked, and the loss included paychecks, tools and work boots. A suspect was located nearby, where he had dropped the stolen paychecks and other possible stolen items before fleeing from police. Daniel Montoya, a 35-year-old Fremont resident, was arrested.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, August 31st through Sunday, Sept. 6th, there were four reported auto burglaries, two of which occurred in the Union Landing shopping center and involved property that was left in plain view. Safety Tip: As a reminder, never leave items of value inside your vehicle!

From Monday, August 31st through Sunday, Sept. 6th, there were seven reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, five of the vehicles have been recovered.
