On September 5th, 2015 at 10:50 a.m. two male suspects entered into Game Stop located at 1057 Cochrane Road. Once inside, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and took the two employees and four customer’s hostage; one customer was a young child. The suspects robbed the hostages of their personal belongings and held them captive in a storage closet while they looted the store. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was later seen by a Morgan Hill Officer driving to the area of 260 Berry Ct. with a one of the suspects driving. The suspect attempted to evade police in the vehicle then ran into an apartment building on Berry Ct. Morgan Hill Officers surrounded the complex and called out Morgan Hill/Gilroy Regional SWAT team to search for the armed and dangerous suspect. After a 13 hour evacuation and search of the complex the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Emergency Response Team (SERT) was requested to continue the search. On September 6th, 2015 around 10:30am, Santa Clara County SERT located the suspect in an apartment and brought the stand off to a peaceful resolution. The second suspect is still at large. We will release the names of the suspects once our investigation is completed so as to not compromise the integrity of our on-going investigation. The Morgan Hill Police Department thanks the many law enforcement and community partners who assisted in the apprehension of this violent felon to include the Gilroy Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan Hill Police Volunteers and Community Emergency Response Team for their assistance.
