Advisory

Do you have expired, unwanted, or unneeded prescription drugs? Don't know what to do with them?

Do you have expired, unwanted, or unneeded prescription drugs?  Don't know what to do with them?  The Signal Hill Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency for the 10th - National Prescription Drug Take-Back on Saturday September 26, 2015 from 10am to 2 pm.  The location will be the Signal Hill Police Department located at 2745 Walnut Avenue Signal Hill CA 90755.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.  Many Americans are not aware that medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse.  Prescription drug abuse in the U.S. is rising at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.  Studies show that many abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet.  In addition, many Americans do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away - both potential safety and health hazards.

In the previous nine Take-Back events from 2010 - 2014, over 4.8 million pounds of prescription drugs were collected nationwide.

Please help reduce the potential abuse/misuse of prescription drugs by disposing of them in a safe and responsible manner.  Bring them to the Signal Hill Police Department on Saturday September 26, 2015 from 10am to 2pm.
