Early Saturday morning, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department requested OSBI investigate a possible homicide at the Backwoods Camping and Music Festival near Stroud. Patrick Murphy, 34, attended the music festival. When his behavior became erratic, security personnel subdued him. Shortly after being handcuffed, the Stillwater man stopped breathing. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and transported Murphy to a hospital in Stroud. Doctors there pronounced him dead. His body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy. OSBI agents have conducted numerous interviews. The findings of the autopsy report will determine how investigators proceed.
