SMPD re-routing non-emergency calls to 650-777-4100 while working on equipment issues with our non-emergency phone system

650-777-4100 is the temporary non-emergency number for SMPD calls through Burlingame PD.

911 is still working for all emergency calls. Please only use 911 if you have an actual emergency, and our To find out if your non-emergency call is reportable online, please check our website:
http://www.cityofsanmateo.org/index.aspx?NID=1183

SMPD is currently working with our IT department to resolve an equipment issue within our phone system that is affecting our non-emergency phone lines. SMPD has seamlessly enacted our back-up dispatch center protocol with Burlingame’s dispatch center and dispatchers are working side by side with their dispatchers to ensure seamless operations and response to emergency and non-emergency calls.

All agencies in San Mateo County have a back-up dispatch center agreement and protocol and our emergency back-up protocols worked very smoothly when enacted this morning thanks to our professional public safety dispatchers who plan and practice for exigencies such as these.

Additionally, we are grateful to Burlingame PD for hosting our dispatch operation at their center and their continuing partnership as our back-up dispatch center!

Thank you for your understanding!
