The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

August 31, 2015

0744 Hours: Officer Musantry arrested a 22 year old female in front of her residence in Newark for her outstanding warrant. She was booked at Fremont Jail.

1331 Hours: Officer Lopez investigated an embezzlement case at Fremont Mazda. The GM reported a new employee had stolen $2500.00 dollars. The 32 year old male employee from Fairfield was arrested on his second day at work after he admitted to stealing the money on his first day of work. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

1735 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a hit and run collision that occurred on Thornton Avenue at Maple Street. The victim was riding his bicycle east bound Thornton Ave and was struck in the back wheel by a newer Nissan Sentra. The driver failed to stop and render aid to the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

September 1, 2015

0945 Hours: Officers responded to a restraining order violation at La Cabana restaurant. Officer Johnson contacted a 41 year old male from Newark and arrested him for 166(a)(4) PC- violation of a court order. He was booked at Fremont Jail.

2248 Hours: Officer Norvell responded to an unwanted guest call at a residence on Geranium St. The cause of the problem, a 40 year old male from Newark, was located down the street and arrested for being drunk in public. He was booked at Fremont Jail.

September 2, 2015

September 3, 2015

1437 Hours: Officer Horst investigated a residential ransack burglary at a residence in the 4800 block of Windermere Drive. The burglary occurred between 7:30 am and 2:30 pm. The suspect(s) entered through an unsecured back door. Loss includes a Xbox 360 and other electronics.


2055 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary (window smash) in the parking lot of Nijo Castle parking lot. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video to identify potential suspects and leads.

2338 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted the occupants of a vehicle in the Food Maxx parking lot. As a result, he arrested a 37 year old female from Union City for 11377 H&S- possession of methamphetamine, 11364.1 H&S- possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant. She was cited and released from the scene.
