(Huntington County, IN)-The Indiana State Police is investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred this morning on I-69, northbound at the 280 mile marker which claimed the life of a 21 year old woman from Fort Wayne.

Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Don Stoffel indicated that at approximately 9:30 a.m., a 2004 Dodge Neon driven by 21 year old Michelle E. Bruggeman of Fort Wayne was traveling southbound when for an unknown reason, it drove into and through the grass median.  Bruggeman’s vehicle then entered and spun in the northbound lanes where it was struck on the driver’s side by a 2015 Volkswagen Beetle driven by 55 year old Lu Zhang of Carmel.

As a result of the crash, Bruggeman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Huntington County Coroner’s Office.  Zhang was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and has since been treated for minor injuries and released.  This crash remains under investigation.
