Deputies are searching for the driver of a Black Ford Mustang involved in a street race that left one dead

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Rochester Avenue / Jersey Boulevard, city of Rancho Cucamonga.
INVOLVED PARTY (1): 16 year old juvenile of Rancho Cucamonga, driving a 2015 Ford Mustang.
INVOLVED PARTY (2): Julio C. Lopez, a 46 year old resident of Pomona, driving a 2010 Nissan Altima (Deceased).

On 09/03/15, investigators from Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team continued their investigation into the fatal traffic collision involving a 16 year old juvenile and Julio Lopez (deceased). After gathering vital evidence from vehicle inspections, surveillance cameras, cell phone video and additional statements; an arrest warrant and residential search warrant was signed by a Superior Court Judge. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident and additional evidence was located inside the residence. The juvenile was transported to San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall where he was booked on charges of PC 192(c)(1).

On Wednesday, September 02, 2015, at 4:17 pm, emergency personnel responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Rochester Avenue and Jersey Boulevard, in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. Independent witnesses observed two black Ford Mustangs racing southbound on Rochester from Arrow Route, one driven by a 16 year old juvenile from Rancho Cucamonga. At that time, Lopez was driving his Nissan east on Jersey and came to the intersection of Rochester. Lopez entered the intersection to make a left turn to drive north. The front of the juvenile’s Mustang collided into the driver’s side of Lopez’ Nissan, causing major intrusion into the passenger compartment of the Nissan. Both vehicles came to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection. Lopez was treated at the scene and died as a result of his injuries at a local hospital.
**Deputies are looking for the second Ford Mustang that was racing the juvenile. It is described as a 2000 – 2003, black Ford Mustang with a hood scoop. The driver was possibly a Black, male adult in his early twenties wearing a backward hat. **
