INCIDENT: Failure to Yield/Grand Theft Auto/Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: La Paz Dr. X Mojave Dr., Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Lee Gamlin - 36 Yrs old, Riverside

SUMMARY: On September 3, 2015 at 12:12 am, Deputy Reyes from the Victorville Station was on proactive patrol in the area of La Paz Dr. and Mojave Dr., when he saw a silver Honda Accord at the Victorville Gas Mart with a male driver inside. Deputy Reyes conducted a records check and determined the vehicle was stolen from Riverside.

The vehicle exited the parking lot and entered the on ramp of I-15 northbound, where Deputy Reyes initiated a vehicle stop. The driver yielded, then accelerated onto the freeway. Deputy Reyes activated his emergency lights and siren while following the vehicle at speeds of up to 120 MPH. Additional Sheriff's units assisted and continued northbound towards Barstow in light vehicle traffic. The vehicle swerved between the lanes of the freeway and exited at Wild Wash Rd., crossing over the freeway into the desert.

The vehicle made a u-turn and re-entered the I-15 freeway, southbound, at speeds up to 100 MPH. As the vehicle passed the Dale Evans overpass, with several patrol vehicles following, the driver pulled to the side of the freeway. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and laid on the freeway. The driver was arrested without incident and determined to be Lee Gamlin from Riverside.

Gamlin was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for VC10851 – Grand Theft Auto, PC496 – Possession of Stolen Property, VC2800.1 – Felony Evading and an outstanding drug warrant.
