Charged Filed in All Wars Memorial Vandalism

Investigation of the June 8, 2015 vandalism at the All Wars Memorial at Oak Hill Park has led to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filing charges against Jared Vance, 18, of Provo Utah.

In the original incident, suspects used spray paint to vandalize the war memorial in Danville. Due to the nature of the crime, a reward was offered. Danville Police Department Detectives, following tips and other information in the case, presented their investigation to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office subsequently filed a charge of felony vandalism against Vance.

Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said he was pleased that the case was able to be resolved and he appreciates the assistance and patience of the community.

“We are very glad that we were able to bring closure to this case, and we empathize with our local veterans who were affected by the vandalism of this important memorial,” Simpkins said.
