Indiana State Police Investigate Fatal Tractor Accident

Shelby Co., IN- Early this afternoon, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Jeremy Basso responded with Shelby County deputies and the Moral Township Fire Department to 7859 N. CR 750 W. Fairland, Indiana on the report of an overturned farm tractor accident.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Joseph Stenger, 34, of Fountaintown, was bush hogging on private property utilizing a John Deere 4020 tractor and batwing bush hog. The tractor and bush hog was being operated on a grade when the tractor overturned and pinned Stenger. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Shelby County Deputy Coroner Joe Cales.

Investigating Officers: Trooper Jeremy Basso, Trooper Jeff Stone and Sergeant Dennis Scudder, Indiana State Police.

Assisting Agencies: Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Moral Township Fire Department and Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
