Sheriff's Air Rescue 306 perform a hoist rescue to extract an injured hiker from Forest Falls

VICTIM(S): Vanessa Lee 28 year old from San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Monday, 8/31/2015, Air Rescue 306 was dispatched to assist San Bernardino County Fire Department regarding a hiker (Lee) who sustained non-life threatening injuries from a 20 foot fall at Big Falls in Forest Falls. San Bernardino County Fire Department ground crews were able to assist in stabilizing Lee while the air rescue crew was preparing for the technical hoist.
Registered Nurse/Sheriff's Air Medic Melanie Munns was lowered by hoist approximately 130 feet to continue the assessment and provide additional medical care. Deputy/Crewchief Carlos Quezada lowered a litter down to Munns. Lee was hoisted up and into the helicopter. RN Munns was also hoisted and maintained emergency care along with RN/Sheriff's Air Medic Jeffrey Centeno while Lee was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Once at ARMC, Lee was treated in the emergency room for non-life threatening injuries.
