Indiana State Police Promote Boone to Microanalysis Unit Supervisor
The Indiana State Police recently promoted Microanalysis (Trace) Unit Analyst, Kathy Boone, to the position of Microanalysis Unit Supervisor.
Boone graduated from Roncalli High School in 1991 and attended Butler University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1995.
She began her career with the Indiana State Police in 1996 as a Drug Unit Analyst at the Indianapolis Lab. In 1998 she was promoted to Microanalysis (Trace) Unit Analyst where she has continued to work until her recent promotion.
Boone now serves as the Unit Supervisor for the Microanalysis Unit; a unit assigned to the Chemistry Section. She will lead a group of five Forensic Scientists who are assigned to the Indianapolis Regional Laboratory. Their job duties include performing the important tasks associated to microanalysis, or trace examinations. Microanalysis is commonly associated to fire debris analysis, as well as glass, paint, and plastic analysis.
“We are fortunate to have Kathy serving as our Microanalysis Unit Supervisor in our laboratory system,” stated Indiana State Police Laboratory Commander Major Steve Holland. “She possesses the necessary experience and expertise to lead this important work group within our system. She also serves on forensic-related committees associated with trace analysis at the national level, which speaks highly of her stature in the forensic community.”
Mrs. Boone resides in Marion County with her husband Matt and one child.
