On August 28, 2015 at 1:20 pm, Forest City Police officers were called to the residence of Andrea Porter Reeves at 260 Willow Run Drive, Forest City, NC. Officers arrived at the residence and found Kevin Dale Cato, age 46, had sustained a single gunshot wound to the shoulder area. Emergency personnel transported the victim to Rutherford Regional where he later died.
Chief Jackson commented, “Our investigative staff along with the assistance of Special Agents of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, are still in the process of evaluating the crime scene, witness statements and the circumstances related to the shooting. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning at Wake forest Baptist Medical Center. Until an autopsy has been completed, we will not be making any determinations as to the status or classification of the incident. I would like to thank the Forest City Fire and Rescue, Rutherford County EMS, Rutherford County Rescue, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Regional One medevac and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in this case.”
