On August 25th, 2015 at approximately 8:10 AM, Officers responded to the 1700 block of Bluff Rd regarding to a possible domestic violence investigation.
Upon Officers arrival, it was later determined that a 19 year old female had been kidnapped and carjacked at about 2:00 AM that morning in the area of Bluff Rd and Whittier Blvd. The victim stated she parked in the area to rest before driving home and left her vehicle unsecured, falling asleep inside. She was later awakened when she felt something on her neck and realized that a male was in her passenger seat holding a knife to her neck.
The suspect forced the victim onto the passenger seat and drove the victim around for several hours against her will, forcing her to remove cash from a local ATM. The suspect then drove to the 1700 block of S. Bluff Rd where he fled when officers arrived. An extensive search was conducted for the suspect but he was not located.
Through the course of the investigation Montebello Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 23 year old Omar Alfaro Juarez. Juarez is a known local transient with several arrests for theft and burglary.
On August 26, 2015 at approx. 5:00 PM, Montebello Police Detectives conducted surveillance for Juarez in the areas where he was known to frequent. While in the area of Montebello Blvd and Elm St. Detectives located Juarez near 1340 S. Montebello Blvd where he fled on foot. A perimeter was quickly established and with the assistance of the LASD helicopter, Monterey Park Police and Vernon Police. Juarez was subsequently located by Montebello Police K9 Cody. Juarez refused to surrender and was apprehended by K9 Cody.
Upon being arrested Juarez was treated for dog bites to his leg and hands. Juarez was later booked for assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and carjacking. He will remain in custody pending his arraignment on 08/28/15.
