Shooting in Forestville Ca.

On August 26th, 2015 @ approximately 2150 hrs Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 9000 block of Rio Del Ct in Forestville regarding a report of a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival Deputies found a single male had been shot several times and was in need of medical assistance. Also at the residence was a second male, who was later determined to be the shooter.

Ambulance and Fire responded and ultimately transported the shooting victim to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Investigation Detectives along with Sonoma County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Detectives were summoned to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Later that evening, detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Investigation Unit arrested the second male subject located at the residence in connection with the shooting that occurred there. The suspect was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility shortly thereafter.

Eric Joseph Justensen, a 48 year old man from Forestville, was arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault with a deadly weapon – firearm, and Felony Child Endangerment. He is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.

He will be arraigned on the charges on August 28th, 2015 at 1:30 PM in courtroom 9.

The victim remains in a local hospital and is being treated for gunshot wounds he received during the incident. He is expected to survive his injuries. Detectives will interview him when he has recovered.

Detectives continue to investigate the crime, including the events leading up to and following the shooting. They are still searching for and collecting further evidence associated with the crimes. In addition, detectives are still seeking witnesses who may have been at the scene during the shooting but had left prior to deputies arrival.

This is an open investigation and details will only be released when it does not interfere with the integrity of the case.
