Vehicle stop on Canyon Drive nets 1.6 pounds of meth, driver arrested.

On 8-25-15, at about 3:34 PM, an officer stopped a gray 2001 Dodge pickup in the 4000 block of Canyon Drive for a traffic violation.  The driver stepped out of the vehicle, and was seen putting something into the bed of the pickup.  The officer became suspicious of the driver and asked for consent to search the vehicle.  The officer also requested a narcotic detection dog.  The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  Officers searched the vehicle based on the alert.  Officers found two small baggies of what is believed to be about ¼ ounce of marijuana in the truck’s console.  Officers also found a number of new, clear plastic bags in the passenger compartment.  Officers found a car stereo box in the bed of the truck.  Inside the box were six clear baggies that contained a white crystalline substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.  The estimated weight of the white crystals is 734 grams, about 1.6 pounds.  The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Brian Paul Jones WM 40 was booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana less than two ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group I, over 400 grams.
