On August 26, 2015, at 5:00 AM, an 80 year-old male reported he was the victim of an armed robbery that occurred at Citrus Grove Park in the area of Erringer Rd. and Los Angeles Ave. The victim was robbed by a male suspect who brandished a handgun. The suspect fled on foot westbound from the area with a small amount of cash.

Approximately one half-hour later, two females reported they had been robbed of a cell phone at gunpoint in the area of Los Angeles Ave. and Patricia Ave. Their description of the suspect matched the description of the suspect in the earlier robbery. The suspect was last seen running northbound from the area.

A coordinated effort by Simi Valley Police Dispatchers and Officer Steve Jennings led to the observation of the suspect in the area of First St. and Easy St. As Officer Jennings attempted to detain the suspect at gunpoint he ran to the rear of the businesses in the Mountain Gate Plaza. After a short foot pursuit, Officer Jennings was able to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect had stolen property reported by the victims in his possession as well as an Airsoft pistol which closely resembled an actual firearm. The suspect was booked at the Ventura County Juvenile Hall for two counts of robbery.
