Early this morning, the APD started responding to calls of vehicle windows being broken out, probably by a suspect or suspects using a BB gun. The officers took reports at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of SW 54th, and on streets including the 7800 and 7900 block of Pilgrim, 5700 block of Winslow, and 4700 block of Shawnee. Nineteen vehicles were damaged in the overnight spree. Last Friday night or early Saturday morning, 8-8-15, eleven vehicles were damaged in the same area. Just like today’s report, someone used a BB gun or similar weapon to break out multiple car windows. The victims estimated the damage to each window at $300 to $700.
If you notice a vehicle that appears to be prowling a residential area or apartment complex, please keep in mind that they may be involved in criminal activity. Vandals like these...as well as auto burglars and thieves looking for open garage doors...ride around at night, looking for opportunities to commit more crimes.
