Homicide Arrest

On August 20, 2015, Kern County Sheriff’s detectives arrested 55 year old David Lynn Corkern for one count of first degree murder in relation to a shooting that occurred in the 2100 block of Sonja Drive in Rosamond earlier that day.

Detectives were able to determine that Corkern was the victim’s uncle. Corkern was located shortly after the shooting in the 2600 block of Diamond Street in Rosamond and detained. A firearm believed used in the shooting was recovered during the investigation.

Corkern was booked into the Sheriff’s Office Mojave Jail. He is being held without bail.

On August 20th, 2015 at about 10:34 am, Rosamond and Mojave deputies were dispatched to the 2100 block of Sonja Drive regarding a victim of a shooting. Deputies arrived and found a 35 year old male inside of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.  A short time later, deputies located and detained a 56 year old male subject in the 2600 block of Diamond Street. Homicide Detectives were notified and assumed the investigation.
