Nature of Incident: First Day of School in the City of Moorpark
Location: City of Moorpark, California
Date & Time: August 18, 2015
Unit(s) Responsible: Moorpark Police Department. 610 Spring Rd. Moorpark, Ca. 93021, Traffic Bureau

Narrative:
Back to school is right around the corner. Moorpark Unified School District’s first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Traffic in our school zones typically get backed up for a short time during pick and drop off times.

The Moorpark Police Department would like to remind parents to allow plenty of time to arrive safely, to be patient while operating a motor vehicle in and around school zones, and to be mindful of the children’s safety as they are being dropped off or picked up in these areas. It is every driver’s responsibility to obey all traffic laws and drive with courtesy and care in and around school zones.

The Moorpark Police Department will have a visible presence around our schools throughout the year. In the next few weeks you can expect heightened enforcement of all traffic laws in our school zones to help ensure the safety of the students.

The Moorpark Police Department would like to remind our community that all violations especially speeding, failure to stop for school bus displaying red lights, seatbelt violations, provisional license violations, and distracted driving will be strictly enforced in these school zones.
