On 8/18/2015 at approximately 2:50 pm, deputies responded to the 2900 block of Thorn Road, Sebastopol regarding a subject who was deceased from an industrial accident. It was reported that the deceased subject died when a large portion of a tree fell on the victim.
The investigation revealed that the owner of the tree company was falling a large pine tree on the property. The owner of the tree company was approximately 80 feet up from the ground in a tree that he had already trimmed the branches off of. He fell a large portion of the top of the tree and a worker on the ground was struck by the log. The log was approximately 8” in diameter. The subject who was falling the tree immediately climbed down from the tree to the injured person and began cutting the log off of the subject. Medical personnel were called to the scene and pronounced the subject deceased upon their arrival.
The identity of the deceased subject will not be released at this time, pending the notification of next of kin. Cal OSHA was also called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
