2 Stranded Hikers and Dog Found & Rescued in Castaic Mountain Area After Being Overcome By 104°+ Heat #LASD

2 Stranded Hikers and Dog Found & Rescued in a Castaic Mountain Area After Being Overcome by the 104°+ Heat on Saturday

Rescue teamwork with Santa Clarita Sheriff Search & Rescue and a Los Angeles County Fire Air Ops at about 2:30PM. The Los Angeles County Sheriff search team hiked into a remote area and located the two missing hikers and their dog,. A 46-year-old female and a 17-year-old male had both been overcome with heat related problems in a mountainous area near Templin Hwy, Castaic, Santa Clarita Valley.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter airlifted them to medical care. The teen and dog were okay, but the adult woman was suffering from heat exhaustion and was treated and released at the hospital. One deputy sheriff rescuer suffered from heat exhaustion, and was treated and released after medical care.

All rescuers on the trails, and in the air, earned some tall pitchers of water. It's hot of there!

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team members are Reserve Sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free. There are over 150 members of the eight Search and Rescue teams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. These rescuers were activated for over 550 search and rescue missions last year, making it one of the most active counties for search and rescue missions in the nation. Reserve deputies and civilian volunteers are supervised by full-time sheriff’s deputies http://lasdreserve.org

Did you know? There are over 850 LASD reserve sheriff's deputies who work patrol, jails, search and rescue, motorcycle patrol, mounted posse, investigations, and more, as team members of the second largest policing agency in the nation.
