On 8-16-15, at about 3:05 AM, an APD officer was eastbound on Wolflin Avenue, near Milam, when a white 2001 Pontiac drove by him westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer turned to try to catch the vehicle. Before he could get close enough to stop the car, it turned south on Georgia, still speeding. The driver continued south to 26th, turned west, continued west to Britain Street, then turned south. The officer turned on Britain and found that the driver had continued into the 2700 block of Britain, where he lost control, crossed the northbound lane, and struck a large tree on the east side of the roadway. The left front of the vehicle was heavily damaged. The driver, Joshua Daniel Bowles WM 30, who listed a Randall County address, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle. APD Traffic Investigations responded to the scene of this accident. Investigators have not determined that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn has ordered an autopsy.
