A horse statue stolen from a front yard in Alpine is back home with its owner.

The $650 bronze and copper decorative horse was found on a dirt road near the 700 block of South Glen Oaks Road in Alpine just after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15th.

A driver passing by saw the horse on the road and called the Alpine Sheriff's Station after recognizing the horse from a community safety bulletin.

"Daisy," as her owners call her, has a few dents, but is not damaged. There are no surveillance cameras in the area. It's not clear who left "Daisy" on the road, but she was dusted for prints before being returned to her happy owner.

We would like to thank the person who called deputies after finding the horse on the road and others who looked out for the statue. We still want your help in solving this crime.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on who stole "Daisy" is urged to call the Alpine Sheriff's Station at (619) 659-2600.

It might seem like a funny joke to some, but a homeowner in Alpine is not laughing.

A horse statue made of brass and copper is missing from the front yard of a woman's home. This thing of beauty was stolen some time on Saturday, August 8th in the 700 block of Clayburn Court.

The custom made decorative horse has been a fixture in the neighborhood for six months and cost $650. It weighs 30 pounds, stands about 2 ½ feet tall and is 3 ½ feet long from the nose to the tail.

The owner would really like to have the horse statue back and deputies would like to save it before it gets melted for scrap.
