The final paving operations for the South-end Cherry Avenue Widening Project, Phase 1, will take place today starting at 7 AM. The work to be completed includes base asphalt paving on the east side of project and installing the final rubberized asphalt finish cap on the new road surface (entire width of roadway / curb to curb). The contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic each way while these paving operations are on-going. However, it is likely there will be extensive delays on and off throughout the day while cars are moved from one side of the roadway to the other to make way for the paving work. The city strongly encourages using alternative routes throughout the day. The overall project is schedule to be completed by next Thursday, August 20th with all lanes of traffic open.
